Help pick up trash from our streets, Town creeks, the Russian River and our Sonoma Coast beaches – and have fun while you’re at it! Every year the Town of Windsor and Russian River Keeper join forces to host trash clean up events around the Town!
Global Earth Day
Every April, the Town of Windsor honors Earth Day by leading groups to pick up trash on Windsor's streets and in the creeks. Volunteer a few hours of your time to improve the water quality and wildlife habitats in Windsor. Special thanks to all who participated at our Earth Day event on April 24, 2022! Participants picked up approximately 400 gallons of trash, and several bulky items, including a drawer and a broken car windshield.
Annual Creek Week and Russian River Watershed Cleanup Day
Every year, volunteers gather along the Russian River on beaches, in canoes, and alongside creeks, to pick up trash. In 2018, 242 volunteers removed over 15,500 pounds of trash, and 51 tires from stream banks in the Russian River Watershed.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 33rd annual Russian River Cleanup in September 2021! The Town pulled over 20 shopping carts out of the creeks that day and our volunteers did an incredible job removing trash from Windsor's streets and waterways.
Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day
https://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/ccd/ccd.html
Every September, volunteers from Windsor and across Sonoma County gather on beaches along the Sonoma Coast to pick up trash annually. It’s a morning of fun and community service.
1,437,549 volunteers from 1985-2016 have removed 23,054,067 pounds of trash and recyclables from beaches, lakes and waterways!
