The Walbridge Fire is currently 51,072 acres in size and 0% contained. The closest point of the fire to Windsor is near Mt. Jackson, which is approximately 6 miles to the west of Windsor. The fire has been burning in this general location for the last couple of days and has not made any significant movement towards Windsor. This said, conditions can change in a moment's notice, so Windsor residents should continue to monitor the situation and be prepared.

Firefighting personnel, including our local firefighters from Sonoma County Fire District, continue to work around the clock to establish control over the fire. Ground crews, bull dozers and aircraft have been deployed to the area. In the Windsor area, Sonoma County Fire District is closely monitoring fire conditions along the eastern perimeter of the fire and the potential for the fire to move towards Windsor. They are also conducting field observations for “spot fires” caused by embers that drift out from the fire in the area between Windsor and the closest point of the fire.

Today, a red flag warning is in effect, and weather conditions are expected to change. Forecasted conditions include dry lightning and thunderstorms that could cause erratic winds, extreme fire behavior within the existing fires, and could create the potential for new fires to start.
