Today the eastern perimeter of the fire held steady and as a result, the status of some evacuation zones located adjacent to Windsor were downgraded to “warning” status, including County Evacuation Zones 2K1, 2K2, and 4A1. The evacuation warning for Windsor Zone A remains in effect, however there is no immediate threat to Windsor at this time.
The lack of significant movement on the eastern perimeter of the fire today along with continued firefighting work – which included on-going dozer work and air tanker drops – has put us in a better position should the fire reach the ridges above Westside Road. This is not to say we are safe and you can drop your guard. Conditions can change at any time – particularly with the incoming weather, so please remain alert and ready to act.
Red Flag weather conditions will start to materialize this evening with thunderstorms forecasted early Monday morning. The thunderstorms may cause erratic winds, extreme fire behavior within the existing fires, and could create the potential for new fires to start. Sonoma County Fire District and allied agencies are continuing to monitor conditions and weather developments.
