The Walbridge Fire is currently 54,923 acres in size and 19% contained. In the area near Windsor, the fire continues to slowly back down into some of the slopes and drainages. This type of burn is helpful for firefighting. There is no immediate threat to Windsor, and there are no evacuation orders or warnings in effect for Windsor. Residents are advised to continue to monitor the situation and remain prepared. Yesterday, firefighting efforts continued along the eastern perimeter of the fire and were focused on slowing advances of the fire in the Peña Creek and Sweetwater Springs areas. Bull-dozed contingency lines were expanded in the area between the fire and west Windsor, improving our firefighting position in this area.
Today, firefighting activities on the eastern perimeter of the fire will continue in the Mt. Jackson Resort, Peña Creek and Sweetwater Springs areas. Winds are forecasted to be from the west-southwest at 5-10 MPH, with gusts up to 15 MPH. Sonoma County Fire District continues to conduct field observations for “spot fires” caused by embers that drift out from the fire in the area between Windsor and the closest point of the fire.
