We and Sonoma County want to hear from you on the County's five-year Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Join us at a July 21 webinar from 6-7:30 PM to learn how Sonoma County will reduce the impacts of natural hazards such as earthquake, flooding, fire and drought. Check out the two-volume draft plan at https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/PRMD/Long-Range-Plans/Hazard-Mitigation-Update/ Specific information on Windsor is in volume 2 of the plan, pages 153-199.
What is hazard mitigation? It is defined as any action to reduce or alleviate the loss of life, personal injury, and property damage that can result from a disaster. Hazard mitigation activities include planning efforts, policy changes, programs, studies, and improvement projects. A hazard mitigation plan identifies the natural hazards and measures to mitigate these hazards and includes a community profile, hazards assessment, risk assessment, mitigation actions, and implementation and maintenance programs.
